MUSIC AND PHOTOGRAPHY

the perfect arrangement

Like many before, I have noticed a lifelong connection between music and art that has shaped my entire being, providing inspiration for my fine art work centered on healing, and also in camera during shows. Concerts are places of catharsis and community, as performers weave their magic on stage, creating moments begging to be captured.

I started taking photographs as a child, writing stories and illustrating them with Polaroids. With my camera, I document important events, make sentimental portraits, create artwork that blurs the lines between painting and photography. I have a BFA in Photography from Columbus College of Art & Design and use digital, film, and toy cameras.

I have long loved finding expression with photo, getting my hands dirty. A documentary project on the challenges and reality of teaching in Baltimore City gained me acceptance to Maryland Institute College of Art, where I focused on alternative photographic processes and social justice, coming away with a Master’s Degree in 2010. Storytelling, creating a narrative through the lens; I’m always looking for a new angle, a different way of seeing and tapping into creativity camera first.

Without music, life would be a mistake.
